Noah and his Tiger Den visited the KKTV TV Studios today. The kids got to see themselves on the TV using the green screen used for weather. They then checked out the news desk and then finally the editing room.
Mayah is doing gymnastics this fall and having a wonderful time.
Check out the photos below for more.
Tonight Den 1 from Pack 456 visited a Home game for the St. Mary’s Pirate’s. We had a great time cheering on the Pirates (the team in green). It was a fun although cold night. All the boys seemed to have a really good time. At halftime we joined in with the students to welcome the team back onto the field.
The Pirates won the game 40 to 10 over the Colorado Springs Christian School Lions.
Ethan and his Scout Troop went camping this weekend in the Rocky Mountains. We went up to Pike National Forest and camped out under some beautiful stars. It was a ropes and rifles weekend. The boys got to do some shooting and learned lashings while building a bridge. This was Ethan’s first campout with his new troop and he had a really good time. We also hiked to the top of the ridge behind our campsite.
I was able to get some really interesting pictures of the stars and scenery as well. Enjoy the pictures below:
We took a hike with our new Cub Scout Pack to Garden of the Gods park in Colorado Springs, CO. We had a wonderful time, but per our luck saw no Big Horn sheep. We did see a number of birds and even a pair of Coyotes though. The Garden of the Gods is a really neat place to hike and also has a large area devoted to Mt. Biking, so we may have to try that another time.
Below are some pictures from our hike, hope you enjoy them.
Our last day at Grand Teton national park and we stopped along various overlooks to enjoy the views. It was early in the day so the views were pretty clear. We started at Blacktail Ponds overlook and saw a moose in the distance. From there we headed up to Glacier Overlook where you can see the glacier at the top of the peaks clearly.
Our main stop of the morning was at Schwabacher Landing. This picturesque area is a short drive down a very steep and very rugged gravel road. Once at the landing the views are spectacular in this area along the Snake river. There were numerous beaver ponds as well that created nice reflections in the still water of the mountain.
On our way back to camp requests for one last animal were granted as we saw not one but two moose grazing in and long the Snake river. The first in the River was very clear from the bridge. The other I trekked back a bit to see and was able to get some close up pictures of him grazing on the grasses along the river.
Today we visited the Lawrence S. Rockefeller Preserve. The visitor center there had some interesting artworks. The main lobby had a large clear picture window of the mountains. There was a room with video boards showing wildlife in the park with sound. At the end of that room was a mosaic of the mountains made out of tiny pictures of wildlife. Then there was a small room with sound effects of the park and a summer storm.
After looking around the museum we participated in a ranger program called “Critter Chat”. Today’s animal was the wolf. The kids had lots of questions for the ranger, and also impressed him with their knowledge of wolves.
We then returned to the main visitor center at Moose, WY and they all received their Jr. Ranger badges for the Grand Tetons. We finished up the day by catching a glimpse of a moose hiding in the brush near Cottonwood Creek.
Today we took a drive up Signal Mountain. This peak offers panoramic views of the Teton Valley. It was breathtaking.
Today Ben and I rented quads from Dune Excursions and spent four hours tearing it up on the dunes. We had an absolute blast. The quads were quite powerful, mine had a top speed of over 60MPH. I didn’t get it up that fast, but it did respond quickly when I wanted it to.
I uploaded some video and pictures, but they don’t due the experience justice. I highly recommend renting from Dune Excursions they were very good about getting us out to the dunes and setting us up.
